Intuitive Figuration

My work begins with small discoveries I make in life. Ranging from banal objects to human gestures, these discoveries occur after intense searching or simply by chance. The way these elements captivate my imagination and become subconscious connotations to more intensely personal subject matters is enigmatic. As I approach my with a preconceived idea in mind, I allow my process to dictate the content. A slow, unscripted weaving and deconstructing of imagery takes place, leading my thoughts to naturally make connections with visual elements.

This process often lends itself to more comprehensive interpretations of the initial concept. It also leads me to examine my own psychological and emotional make-up. The magic of making art exists within this intuitive process. The contemplation on perceivable ties between physical forms and thoughts drives me to create my work.
